Illustration Highlights

My illustration style is mostly based on fanciful and imaginary characters with ligne claire backgrounds. Like my comicking style, I am influenced by works of European and Asian modern artists, as well as the American indie artist culture. I enjoy animals as characters but I also like to experiment with people in varying degrees of cartoon style. I also have experience with animation and I feel my character designs often work well in an animated and lively world. I love to incorporate atmosphere in detailed backgrounds, working from sight or memory of the places I’ve traveled or lived in. I can work off the computer with pencil, inks, and brush, or on the computer in full color. On the side I also like to work with local non-profits and charity groups when I can.

You, Approximate

Using Google Maps I paint watercolor street scenes based on the people who you can clearly view from the website. This is an experiment to see exactly how far we can go travel through online interactions and what is lacking in them that they cannot hope to replicate. It also walks the line between functionality, using Google Maps as a substitute for street painting and photography, and voyeurism. You can see more on my Flickr Set.

Game Assets and Animations

I am currently a full-time graphic illustrator for a company that makes online games. I make character designs, backgrounds, animations, interactive design, and other assets that visually make up each game. My current projects include a single-player jungle-based monkey game and a two player fighting game that involves ninja and pirates. You can see more of the process of the opening for the monkey game here.

Charity-related illustration

I have worked on some charity non profit art works, and they are always fun. I incorporate the theme of the charity while also keeping in mind the fund-raising goals. I have auctioned off original art for charity as well as contributed pieces to art books to raise money.

Commission Work

I have been hired for personal commissions, the subject of which vary quite a bit. They demonstrate my ability to tackle a variety of subjects and to meet my client’s requirements in a timely manner. For further information on commission work, please contact me at amy(period)bogin(at)gmail.com. I have watermarked these samples as the characters are not my property.

Personal Illustration

Personal illustration done with non-specific themes for personal use or as gifts to others. I enjoy drawing randomly in my spare time with no particular goals in mind other than to further my abilities as an illustrator.
